Dr. Eleanor Nwadinobi was elected as Medical Women’s International Association’s President-Elect in July, this year during the 100th Anniversary (Centennial) Congress of the the Association in New York.
She became the defacto President on December 1st, 2019 following the resignation of Dr. Clarissa Fabre of the United Kingdom.
This is the first time in 100 years that a Nigerian is occupying the Presidency of the body in International level as the position was aforetime held sway by other countries.
Dr. Nwadinobi was formerly the President of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN) from 2005-2007. She is a Health, Gender and Human Rights Consultant.
The National President of Medical Women Assocation of Nigeria (MWAN), and the Permanent Secretary, Delta State Ministry of Health, Dr. Minnie Oseji attested to the joy and gladness that has enveloped MWAN over the announcement.
According to her, the entire members of MWAN, stakeholders in the medical profession across the entire country are currently rejoicing for the upliftment of a Nigerian Woman, a female Medical Doctor in the International Community over this robust development.
Dr. Minnie Oseji, National President of MWAN, who doubled as the Campaign Manager for Dr. Eleanor Nwadinobi in 2016 and 2019 stated: “We heartily congratulate the Centennial President of the Medical Women’s International Association (MWIA), Dr. Eleanor Nwadinobi and pray for her to have a fruitful tenure”.
